ADDITIONAL INFO

    • Physical exam: If you are not a Chinese citizen and need to apply for a resident permit (the “green card”) in Shenzhen, a physical exam is required. The only place that is authorized to conduct physical exam for immigration purposes is the Shenzhen Port Hospital. You can also get your immunization shots there. It is a comprehensive hospital having internal medicine, surgery, GYN, traditional Chinese medicine, as well as specialty departments treating ailments of the mouth, eye, nose, etc. It is located 18km (or 16 miles) to the east of the GT-Shenzhen office.

    • Immunization: Note from a GT student: While you don’t need any travel vaccinations if you are just going to be in Shenzhen the entire time, there are several vaccinations that are on the list if you travel to other parts of China (or other countries). Recommended are: Hepatitis A for all travelers to China, Hepatitis B and Typhoid if going to rural or non-tourist areas, Yellow Fever (for other countries), Japanese Encephalitis for all non-coastal provinces (especially for hikers), plus malaria pills for southern provinces, and traveler’s diarrhea antibiotics. If interested in getting the above protection, you should make an appointment with the health center ASAP.
